The MotherWound
With Mariah Fenton Gladis
Have the traditions of mothering in your family sufficiently prepared you for creating a wholesome life? Like that familiar blues song lyric, do you sometimes feel like a motherless child?
Join Mariah in this unique workshop for both men and women to explore the influence of your maternal heritage—mother, grandmother, great grandmother, as you honor the gifts and heal the wounds passed down by your ancestors.
Each of us, regardless of gender, carries with us an internalized mother that deeply impacts the quality of our lives. While the impression of the internal father also influences us, this workshop will concentrate on an internal ‘mother’, a key to successful healing. Through focusing on this maternal legacy, you will develop and enhance the ways you mother your loved ones and yourself, and profoundly affect the quality of your life.
Some possible effects of a dysfunctional internal mother might be: a lack trust in others and yourself, avoidance of feelings, trying to control the feelings of others, having low self-esteem or a sense of helplessness, and difficulty in relationships.
In this workshop you will:
- Discover your internal mother – what it is, and the impact it has on the quality of your relationship with yourself and with others
- Understand how to gain strength and inner security from self-mothering
- Expand the skills necessary to mother yourself if you didn’t have a good role model
- Learn to be an excellent caregiver to your family and friends and to yourself by developing a ‘healthy parent’ within
“I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. I’m sure it will be a deep and transformational experience.” — Mariah Fenton Gladis
